Melinda Aquino, MD
Melinda L. Aquino, MD, is board certified in vascular surgery and general surgery and has served Bay Area communities since 2006. She leads the vein care team at San Francisco Vein Center, with a particular focus on venous disorders.
Her evaluation includes a medical history, physical examination and, when appropriate, venous ultrasound. These findings guide an individualized treatment plan that considers symptoms, visible veins and underlying vascular health.
Vein Care and Vascular Surgery
Dr. Aquino treats varicose veins, spider veins and other venous conditions. Her care addresses both vein health and appearance. She explains the findings and available treatment options so patients can understand the recommended approach.
Her practice encompasses broader vascular surgery as well as vein treatment, including:
- Minimally invasive vein procedures
- Endovascular surgery, performed within blood vessels

Education and Training
Dr. Aquino completed her undergraduate degree at Georgetown University and earned her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine.
She completed her general surgery residency at Boston Medical Center (Boston University) and continued as a Smithwick Fellow in Vascular Surgery, training under James Menzoian, MD. She then completed a specialized fellowship in endovascular surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical Center.
